This particular Matric dance holds a special place in my heart as it was for my dashing little cousin (well not so little anymore).
This is the first of 2 in my family this year.
Being able to photograph this was a real treat - with their being an 11 year difference between the two of us - I've really watched this lad grow up and seeing him all dressed up last night pulled on a few heart strings.
I really enjoyed capturing all his details - made me feel like I was doing a wedding - I just love attention to detail in any shoot. He couldn't really understand why I was taking pics of all his little details until I explained that all of them played their own role in his attire for the event and that they all added to the memories of this special occasion and evening he was about to experience.
- Time to suit up son -
I've never laughed so much as I did when I watched him trying to do his tie - he must have done it about a 3 times before being happy with how it looked.
Ethan's date was as very good friend of his, whom he has known for pretty much his entire life - they have grown up together and when Emma arrived I couldn't believe how stunning she looked and how much she had grown.
Once again I kept thinking of the little kids they once were and was once again reminded how quickly time goes by.
All grown up and looking amazing.
A special thank you pressie for a special young lady - a thoughtful touch and a wonderful surprise for Emma.
Proud parents - and so they should be.
All dressed up and ready to paint the town red! But first, pre-drinks on a yacht and then off to their matric dance.
The weather wasn't the greatest - howling winds and choppy water - but that didn't dampen the mood of the youngsters at all.
The excitement was beginning to build.
Lovely ladies ...
... Dashing gents!
A bit of bubbly to get the lads into the swing of things.
Chilling and enjoying the pre- dance vibes
It's party time!
Arrival time at the gates of Clifton - it was wonderful to watch some of the students arriving in all sorts of different vehicles from old classics to new ones.
It was a real treat for any car enthusiasts that were present during the student arrival session.
Ethan's chosen chariot - a beast of a BMW.
Eth, I hope that you had an amazing time at your matric dance and made memories that will last a life time. I am extremely proud of you my boy and wish you all the best for your final year in your school career.
Your future is looking bright and I know you are going to rock this year and end off with a bang!
